UD-UTE: The international conference on "Innovating Smart Tourism Education, Optimization, High Quality, Meeting the Needs of Green and Sustainable Development."

On July 18 and 19, 2024, the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education organized the international conference "Innovating Smart Tourism Education, Optimization, High Quality, Meeting the Needs of Green and Sustainable Development."
The conference was held as part of the SOHO project (Smart, Optimized, High-quality, and On-demand Tourism Innovative Education for Sustainable and Green Development) and involved representatives from 09 partner universities of the project, including Politehnica University of Bucharest, Romania; Lumiere Lyon 2 University, France; Politecnico University, Milan, Italy; University of Sains, Malaysia; Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, Malaysia; University of Danang – University of Technology and Education, Vietnam; University of Danang, Vietnam; American International University, Bangladesh; and Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh.

The overall view of the conference

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Võ Trung Hùng – Vice Rector of the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education said: “This conference is an opportunity to discuss the current challenges and outline a clear roadmap for the future, creating significant breakthroughs with a lasting impact on the green and sustainable development of the education and tourism sectors.” He also encouraged and called for positive contributions from experts, researchers, and scientists both domestically and internationally for the SOHO project.

Funded by the Erasmus+ Program, the SOHO project includes the following main activities: participating in short-term training courses, developing digital training programs; supporting local efforts to promote digital transformation in the tourism industry, strengthening and developing digital transformation training in universities, and spreading and transferring digital systems for green and sustainable tourism development through short-term training courses from European partners; building and implementing training groups, training module programs, and survey forms from universities in Asia to analyze limitations and challenges in digital system training; promoting the sustainability of the project through exchanges and engagement with local communities in managing the tourism industry in a green and smart modern direction; and fostering collaboration and exchanges between universities in Europe and Asia.
At the conference, delegates listened to, exchanged, and discussed six keynote reports:
1. "Development of LMS systems and creative training programs, overview and connection with digital work packages";
2. "Development of LMS systems and creative training program design, curriculum design";
3. "Development of LMS systems and creative training programs, setting up LMS systems";
4. "Development of smart transportation modules";
5. "Development of smart sustainable accommodation modules";
6. "Development of smart renewable energy modules."

As the main partner of the SOHO project, the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education aims to engage with the digital training programs of universities in Europe and apply them at the university to provide maximum support for its lecturers and students in the context of the rapidly developing digital technology today.
At the same time, the goal of the SOHO project is to position the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education as the unit that will apply, implement, and promote digital technology systems in sustainable tourism at the local level, creating effective and personalized experiences for each tourist.
