During
two days of August 31 and September 1, 2021, the MESFIA Project successfully
organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Mastering
energy supply focusing on isolated areas".
The purpose of the conference is to publish the latest research results
and share experiences on topics related to energy, environment, climate change
and sustainable development. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the conference was
held online and attracted more than 100 delegates who are leaders, lecturers,
scientists and students from universities that are partners in the MESFIA
project and participating businesses. .
The
MESFIA project lasts for 3 years (2019 - 2021), funded by the Erasmus+ Program
of the European Community. Universities and businesses participating in the
project include: Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), Eurotraining
Educational Organization (Greece), Canary Wharf Consulting (United Kingdom),
Université Toulouse 3 – Paul Sabatier (France), Instituto Tecnológico de
Canarias (Spain), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), Institut Teknologi
Bandung (Indonesia), Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Naresuan
University (Thailand), Nong Lam University(NLU) and University of Technology
and Education (UTE) - The University of Danang.
This
international conference is an important event of the MESFIA project. At the
conference, there were 03 keynote speakers presented by the following speakers:
Dr. Priyantha Wijayatunga (Asian Development Bank - ADB), Dr. Divyam Nagpal
(International Renewable Energy Agency - IRENA) and Dr. Michael Williamson
(United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific -
UNESCAP). There were 29 papers (selected from 43 papers submitted to the
workshop) presented at 6 sessions in addition to talks and other sessions.

Opening
speech at the conference, as a
representative of the project's authors and a member of the Conference
Organizing Committee, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Trung Hung (Vice Rector of UTE) thanked
Prof. Dr. Antonios Tsikalakis (MESFIA Project Coordinator) invited UTE to
participate in the project; Prof. Dr. Kumar Sivanappan and the technical team
of AIT (Asian Institute of Technology) have made great efforts to organize the
online conference in the context of the pandemic; commits that UTE will
actively participate in all arrangements for the project and propose partners
to continue operating to implement new projects in the future.
